My wife and I opened Chattanooga Bar Stools and More in 2006 in a small strip mall on Lee Highway not far from our current location. Our goal is to offer QUALITY custom bar stools, pub and dinette sets. You can find “cheap” and “low price” furniture anywhere, but finding quality furniture that is customizable to your taste and decor is not easy.
We aren’t a huge online retailer. We prefer working one-on-one with customers looking for durable, high quality furniture with service that is second to none.
We strive to meet or beat online pricing with in-person, value-added service including design assistance in store or in home, expert assembly of your furniture and service and maintenance after the sale.
I (Kyle Holden) grew up in the furniture industry. My father served as V.P. of sales and marketing for Action Industries (Lane recliners) in the late 70’s and 80’s and held sales and management positions with companies such as Benchcraft, Catnapper and Classic Waterbeds. He worked as a sales rep for La-Z-Boy in Mississippi for over a decade. Growing up I was surrounded by fabric swatch handles, sales materials and got to meet many industry leaders and store owners.
I received my bachelor’s degree in biology in 1999 and was destined for medical school, but sometimes life leads you in another direction. While in college I worked as a radio talk show producer and as a retail salesperson for La-Z-Boy. That lead me to work as a manufacturer’s representative for Ashley Furniture and eventually as a senior rep for companies including Vineyard, Relax-R, Morgan Stewart and Callee Furniture (Tempo at the time). It was when I met my wife, Donna, that I got tired of being away from home for days and weeks on end and wanted to spend more time together.
Donna is a native of Bledsoe County, TN and with that small town southern upbringing, she has a natural ability to become anyone’s best friend instantly. She loves helping people and has a great eye for style, color and design.
We decided to open our own retail store in August of 2006. We both share the belief that customers should not be pressured in to purchasing and we didn’t want to play the furniture store “SALE!!!” gimmick of marking everything up before running a “sale”. We price our furniture fair and competitively and the price you pay is not dependent on your ability to haggle. You are always dealing with the owners (unless you’re talking to our dog, Daphne!), and we will do whatever we can to find the perfect stool for your decor and your budget.
Aside from our website we do little to no advertising and have been incredibly blessed by word-of-mouth recommendations from thousands of satisfied customers.
We invite you to visit our store at 6787 Lee Highway next door to Children’s Fair (at the intersection of Lee Highway and Hickory Valley Road. We are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
